Softball Hands Westminster First Conference Loss in Walk-Off Fashion

BETHANY, W.Va. - The Bethany College softball team took on Westminster (Pa.) College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader where they lost the first game by a final score of 3-2 and won the second by a final score of 12-10 at Bison Field.

Game 1
At the Plate
  • Junior All-PAC third baseman Emma Jackson (Alliance, Ohio/Marlington) recorded her third career two-home run game to finish 2-for-3 with two RBI
  • Senior All-PAC shortstop Brooke Markland (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) added the last hit for the Bison offense with a double in the second
  • Sophomore All-PAC catcher Olivia Kidd (Akron, Ohio/Mogadore) also tallied two base hits 
In the Circle
  • Sophomore right-hander Trinity Edge (Franklin, Pa.) had her longest outing as a Bison after going all eight innings where she fanned three batters and surrendered three runs on 10 hits and three walks 
Game 2
At the Plate
  • Freshman first baseman Jenna Nolan (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny) was the hero of Game 2 after finishing 4-for-5 with five RBI including her first career home run and the game-winning hit with a two-run single down the line 
  • Sophomore designated player Molly Hitchen (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) drove in the first run of the day for the Green and White with an RBI single
  • Sophomore Academic All-PAC right fielder Bella Juozapaitis (Tecumseh, Mich.) and Kidd each recorded a multi-hit game against the Titans
  • Markland also launched her first career homer and notched four RBI in her four-hit performance to help lead the Bison
  • Edge collected three hits and drove in one run
In the Circle
  • Junior Academic All-PAC right-hander Victoria Wehrberger (Sebastian, Fla./Sebastian River) got through five and two thirds allowing seven earned runs on 10 hits and five walks as she notched one strikeout
  • Edge bounced back to get the win after pitching the final inning and a third where she held the Titans to one hit
The Bison are back in action Monday, April 6 as they travel to Gambier, Ohio to take on Kenyon (Ohio) College in a non-conference doubleheader against Kenyon (Ohio) College beginning at 3:30 p.m. at the Kenyon Softball Complex.
