Softball Hits the Road to Take on Kenyon

GAMBIER, Ohio - The Bethany College softball team fell to Kenyon (Ohio) College in a non-conference doubleheader by final scores of 11-4 and 10-2 at the Kenyon Softball Complex.

Game 1
At the Plate
  • Senior All-PAC right-hander Katelyn Ziems (Bowling Green, Ohio) collected a hit in each of her two at-bats while driving in two runs on an RBI single
  • Senior All-PAC shortstop and PAC Hitter of the Week Brooke Markland (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) also had two hits including an early two-run double to ignite the scoring
  • Four other Bison recorded a base hit against the Owls in Game 1
In the Circle
  • Sophomore right-hander Trinity Edge (Franklin, Pa.) got the start and pitched one inning while Ziems came on to throw five innings of relief where she held Kenyon to one earned run and had one strikeout
Game 2
At the Plate
  • Sophomore Academic All-PAC first baseman Molly Hitchen (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and scored one run
  • Sophomore left fielder Amber Dedmon (Canton, Ohio/Canton South) drove in one run with a single up the middle
  • Ziems homered in the top of the fourth for her first career four-bagger
In the Circle
  • Sophomore right-hander Madisyn Zigarovich (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) took the pitching rubber for the Bison where she gave up only four earned runs and had one strikeout through 2.1 innings of work
  • Freshman right-hander Shelby Crow (Triadelphia, W.Va./John Marshall) had her longest outing of the season after pitching two innings where she faced 12 baters surrendering only two earned runs and punching out one
The Bison are back in action on Thursday, April 9 as they travel to Waynesburg, Pennsylvania to take on Waynesburg (Pa.) University in a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader beginning at 2:30 p.m. at the Waynesburg Baseball & Softball Complex.
