Softball Takes One from Waynesburg in PAC Split

WAYNESBURG, Pa. - The Bethany College softball team took on Waynesburg (Pa.) University in a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader where they won the first game by a final score of 2-1 and lost the second by a final score of 9-1 at the Waynesburg Baseball & Softball Complex.

Game 1
Scoring Plays
  • Top 5th - Senior All-PAC designated player Katelyn Ziems (Bowling Green, Ohio) made it two straight games with a homer to even up the score
  • Top 5th - Sophomore All-PAC catcher Olivia Kidd (Akron, Ohio/Mogadore) drove in the go-ahead run on a fielder's choice
At the Plate
  • Sophomore left fielder Amber Dedmon (Canton, Ohio/Canton South) notched one double and scored one run for the Bison
  • Sophomore right-hander Trinity Edge (Franklin, Pa.) supplied half of the team's hits with two base hits
  • Ziems finished 1-for-2 and drew one walk
  • Kidd recorded one stolen base and an RBI
In the Circle
  • Sophomore right-hander Trinity Edge (Franklin, Pa.) dominated her former team with a complete game victory with seven strikeouts as she held the Yellow Jackets to one run on four hits and three walks

  • Top 3rd - Kidd did it again with an RBI single to match Waynesburg's first-inning score
At the Plate
  • Edge continued her big day by going 2-for-3 with two singles
  • Kidd added another hit and another RBI for the Bison
  • Ziems singled and scored the Green and White's only run in Game 2
In the Circle
  • Junior Academic All-PAC right-hander Victoria Wehrberger (Sebastian, Fla./Sebastian River) got the start and allowed eight runs through 3.2 innings while striking out two batters
  • Edge threw 1.2 innings of relief where she surrendered one run and had one punchout
The Bison are back in action Saturday, April 11 as they host Legends & Legacy Hall of Fame Weekend and a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader against Grove City (Pa.) College beginning at 1 p.m. at Bison Field.
