BALTIMORE, Md. - Bethany College head wrestling coach Pete Di Pol has been selected to the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Women's Wrestling Committee, as announced at the 2026 National Wrestling Coaches Association Convention.
Di Pol, who enters his third season at Bethany, was appointed to serve on the NCAA Division III Women's Wrestling Committee in front of a packed NWCA Convention and will begin a two-year term beginning September 1, 2026. He will be one of six members on the Committee which includes four coaches and two administrators, with representatives from all three of the NCAA's Divisions.
Di Pol will have the unique task of helping govern one of the NCAA's newest varsity sports, as women's wrestling was established as the NCAA's 91st Varsity Sport in 2026. Only recently has women's wrestling established a wide Division III presence. As an NCAA Emerging Sport, Division III athletes would compete for one championship against competition from the Division I and II levels.
The Division III level as the sport continues to gradually break away from the "All-Divisions" model. The NCAA has announced that the 2027-28 season will see the very first NCAA Division III Championship, which will be separate from the National Duals Team Title.
"It's an honor to be on the NCAA Divisioin III Women's Wrestling committee," said Di Pol. "I look forward to working with the other coaches and administrators on it to grow the sport."
Part of Di Pol's duties on the Committee include managing NCAA women's wrestling championships, monitoring recruiting rules, and regulating wrestling-specific policies across the Division III landscape.
Di Pol and the rest of the Committee members have been selected to uphold the NCAA's mission, traditions, values, and reputation while also serving as advocates for Division III women's wrestling and the NCAA as a whole.
Di Pol and the Bison finished the 2025-26 season with an overall record of 16-5, including a victory over No. 25 nationally ranked Gannon (Pa.) University and two victories at the NWCA National Dual Meet Championships en route to a 13th overall finish.
