Bison Volleyball Captures a Pair of Conference Wins

Oct. 16 – BETHANY, W.Va. – The Bethany College volleyball team (19-10, 12-1 PAC) picked up a pair of Presidents' Athletic Conference victories on Thursday, Oct. 14. The Bison were able to defeat both Washington & Jefferson and Thiel in three sets each.  

In game one against the Washington & Jefferson Presidents, the Bison swept their way to a victory, winning in three sets (25-21, 25-12, 25-23).

Offensively, the Bison were led sophomores Dylana and Dakota McKenzie (Hopewell, Ohio /West Muskingum). The two combined to tally 23 kills and two blocks. Junior Mackenzie Lauber (Mansfield, Ohio /Madison Mansfield) did well from her setter position, logging a team-high 41 assists.

Defensively, Bethany was spearheaded by junior Julia Mouch (Toledo, Ohio/Sylvania Southview) and sophomore Haley Santymire (Clifton, Va. /Centreville). Mouch notched 20 digs, while Santymire added 14. Junior Alexis Castro showed her ability, recording a team-high two blocks.

The second game of the night saw Bethany grab yet another sweep, this time over Thiel College (25-15, 25-12, 25-18).

The offense was led once again by the McKenzie twins. Dakota McKenzie had a team-high 11 kills, while Dylana McKenzie added nine. Sophomore Arielle Sanders ( Maple Heights, Ohio/Maple Heights) and senior Lynsie Mandt (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) also had nice outings. Sanders logged seven kills and Mandt tallied five. Lauber showed off her passing ability, collecting 28 assists.

Defensively, the Green & White was led by Mouch and Mandt. Mouch recorded nine digs, with Mandt netting eight. Overall, the defense was effective, limiting the Tomcats to just a -.019 hitting percentage.

Bethany will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 18 as they travel to PAC foe Geneva College. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
