Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Bison Falter Against Frostburg State

Sept. 3 – BETHANY, W.Va. – The Bethany College men's soccer team was upended by Frostburg State, 1-0, on Wednesday afternoon.

The first half saw both teams unable to create any offense as the game would go scoreless entering intermission.

Sophomore goalkeeper Callum Appleby (Maidstone, United Kingdom/Maidstone Grammar School) played well in the first period, recording three saves on 11 Bobcat shots.

The second stanza saw both teams continue to play great defense as neither squad could find rhythm on the offensive end.

That would all change in the 77th minute, however, as Frostburg State's Derek Fuller found the back of the net to give the guests a 1-0 advantage.

The Bison would continue to play hard and had two more corner kick opportunities in the final 10 minutes of play, but were unable to capitalize falling by the same score.

Appleby continued to impress, racking up six saves on 23 Bobcat shots.

The Green & White offense was led by sophomores Jack Waters (Epsom, United Kingdom/Glyn School) and Sanjay Joshi (Fullerton, Calif./Troy). Waters launched three shots with two coming on goal, while Joshi recorded three shots with one coming on goal. Freshman William Noble (Pittsburgh, Pa./Springdale) also added a shot for the Bison offensive attack.

The squad will get back to the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 6, when they travel to Cresson, Pa. for a non-conference battle with Mount Aloysius College. Game time is slated for 3:00 p.m.
