Beaver Falls, Pa. – Bethany College women's soccer opened up the 2021 season with strong offensive play against Penn. State-Beaver, with a 13-0 win Thursday evening. The game saw 42 shots with 41 coming from the Bison. With tonight's win, it marks the first time the Bison have won a season opener since the 2015 season (Marietta, 3-2).
THE HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Nia Coates and freshman Mary Marshall led the Bison with three goals apiece. Marshall added an assist to her stat line taking 11 shots and 10 on goal
- The Bison had eight different scorers; three of those scoring 2+ goals
- Senior Lauren Hillard scored her first career goal at the 62:16 mark and registered her second goal at the 76:11 mark
- The Bison dished out six assists, led by freshman Kaitlin Pickett with two assists
BY THE NUMBERS
- 0 – The Bison registered their first shutout since 2018 (Bethany 10, PSU-Beaver 0)
- 1 – The Green and White held the Lions to just one shot in the game

Bethany travels to Defiance for the Purple and Gold Classic this weekend. The Bison will face Rochester (Mich.) on Saturday at 1 pm and will take on host Defiance on Sunday at 11 am.
