The Bethany College women's basketball team managed 20 points in the second half in falling to Grove City Saturday, 65-55, in Presidents' Athletic Conference action on Joe Kurey Memorial Court inside Hummel Field House.
Bethany was outscored 10-0 over the final 3:01 minutes after graduate Bella Skobel knotted the game with a driving layup.
The Bison built as much as a 15-point lead in the first half on the strength of a 17-1 run in the second quarter. Grove City was able to stem the scoring avalance with back-to-back baskets in the last 38 seconds to trail by just 11 at the half.
With 3:49 remaining in the third quarter, Bethany was leading by 12 points. But the Wolverines started to crawl back in with a 10-1 spurt, and a buzzer beater enabled BC to take a five-point lead into the final quarter.
The inside duo of junior Kaedlee Potter and sophomore Kate Bott combined for 24 points and 12 rebounds as Potter finished with 13 points and five boards, and Botti added 11 points and seven rebounds. Potter added a team-high three assists and tied with Skobel for a team-high three steals.
Bethany (7-7 overall, 4-5 PAC) travels to Westminster 6 p.m. Wednesday. The Bison claimed the first meeting, 72-42, on December 14.
