BETHANY, W.Va. - The Bethany College football team fell to Hiram (Ohio) College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game by a final score of 42-21 on Don Ault Field at Bison Stadium.
Bethany (0-6, 0-4 PAC) Leaders
- Junior All-PAC quarterback Brett Phillips (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park) completed 22 of 29 passes for 201 yards with a touchdown
- Freshman running back Carlos Cardoza (Greeley, Colo./Greeley Central) ran for a team-high 71 yards while sophomore Richard Buchannon (East Cleveland, Ohio/Euclid) and graduate TJ Owensby (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota West) punched in a touchdown each on the ground
- Sophomore receiver Jermain Beersingh (Miami, Fla./Hialeah Senior) had 11 receptions for 78 yards and sophomore receiver Jacob Burns (Charleston, W.Va./Herbert Hoover) had four catches for 58 yards including his first career touchdown
- Junior linebacker Cam Bailey (Huntington, W.Va./Spring Valley) tallied a team-leading eight tackles while also registering a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry
- Freshman defensive back Karon Thomas (Maple Heights, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) finished with a career-high seven tackles against his former team
- Senior defensive back Khaleel Berry (Peoria, Ill./Jenks) and senior All-PAC defensive end Amarion Williams (Miami, Fla./South Dade) each had a big day for the Green and White defense. Williams had 2.5 tackles for loss, a half a sack, a forced fumble, a pass breakup, and a blocked kick to go with five tackles while Berry made four tackles, two pass breakups, and one forced fumble
Hiram (3-3, 2-2 PAC) Leaders
- Junior quarterback Sean Tejeda threw for 440 yards with four touchdown passes to fuel the Hiram offense
- Sophomore running back RJ Johnson had 72 yards on 18 carries with two touchdowns
- Junior receiver Kevin Dycks led all players with 108 yards receiving and a touchdown while senior Da'Vaughn Lewis reeled in two touchdown passes
- Senior defensive back Devyn Mercilliot had a team-high nine tackles including one for a loss

- 2:39 - Buchannon's 20-yard touchdown run put the Bison on the board just before the half (Sophomore kicker Caden Langley (Wellsburg, W.Va./Brooke) kick good)
Third Quarter (Hiram 35-14)
- 1:39 - Phillips found Burns wide open in the endzone to cut away at the Terrier lead (Langley kick good)
Fourth Quarter (Hiram 42-21)
- 10:01 - Owensby took it in from the 1-yard line for his first career score in the Green and White (Langley kick good)
The Bison are back in action Saturday, October 25 as they travel to Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to take on Geneva (Pa.) College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game at 3 p.m. at Reeves Field.
