Men's Basketball Falls in Final Seconds to Kenyon to Open Regular Season

GAMBIER, Ohio - The Bethany College men's basketball team fell to Kenyon (Ohio) College by a final score of 67-66 in a non-conference inside Tomsich Arena.

Bethany (0-1) Leaders
  • Freshman guard Jaden Stewart (Pikeville, Ky./Pike County Central) scored a team-high 17 points including shooting 80% from deep
  • Senior guard Ryan Reasbeck (Washington, Pa./Wheeling Central Catholic) tallied 16 points and added eight rebounds and a team-high three steals
  • Sophomore forward Jayden Jackson (Columbia, S.C./A.C. Flora) completed the Bison's first double-double of the year with 15 rebounds and 12 points
  • Senior guard Co Rose (Odessa, Texas) led the team in assists with four and added eight points and five rebounds
  • Graduate Academic All-PAC guard Troy Hixson (Grove City, Ohio/Bishop Ready) added seven rebounds, six points, three assists, and a block
Kenyon (1-0) Leaders
  • Freshman forward Bence Lendvay led the Owls with 15 points and seven rebounds
  • Sophomore forward Jackson Burke grabbed a team-best eight boards and added eight points
  • Senior guard Nick Nelson had a team-high two assists with five points and three rebounds
First Half (Kenyon 27-22)
  • Jackson grabbed nine of his 15 boards on the night
  • The Green and White outscored Kenyon on the fast break 10-7
  • Reasbeck tallied all three of his steals
Second Half (Kenyon 67-66)
  • Stewart scored all 17 of his points to lead the Bison's 44 points
  • Reasbeck hit a three and followed that up with a layup in the final minute to give the Bison a 66-62 lead
  • Three Owl free-throws put Kenyon up with nine seconds left to set up one last possession for the Green and White
  • Hixson could not get the final shot to fall as Kenyon secured the season-opening win
The Bison are back in action on Thursday, November 13 as they travel to Spokane, Washington to take on Whitworth (Wash.) University in a non-conference game at 11 a.m. in Whitworth Fieldhouse.
