BETHANY, W.Va. - The Bethany College women's basketball team defeated Chatham (Pa.) University by a final score of 58-43 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game on Joe Kurey Memorial Court at Hummel Fieldhouse.
Bethany (3-5, 1-1 PAC) Leaders
- Junior Academic All-PAC forward Kate Botti (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) finished with a career-high 19 rebounds with five points, two assists, a block, and a steal
- Senior Academic All-PAC forward Kaedlee Potter (Barboursville, W.Va./Cabell Midland) scored 12 while grabbing seven boards and two steals
- Sophomore guard Ella Simpson (Morgantown, W.Va./University) stayed hot with a 16-point performance to lead the team shooting a perfect 6-for-6 while adding four rebounds, three rebounds, and two steals
- Sophomore Academic All-PAC guard Addy Blazer (Hanoverton, Ohio/Beaver Local) finished with a statline of six points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a team-high two blocks
- Freshman guard Lindsey Best (Rayland, Ohio/Martins Ferry) and graduate All-PAC guard Lindsey Garrison (Triadelphia, W.Va./Wheeling Park) each banged two triples to finish with eight points and seven points, respectively
Chatham (6-3, 0-2 PAC) Leaders
- Senior forward Madison Nereu finished with a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds
- Senior forward Alyssa Laukus added 12 points to the Chatham offense
- Graduate guard Jordyn Jensen talliled a game-high four steals
First Quarter (Bethany 12-9)
- Simpson found Best for a wide-open three to give Bethany the lead for good
- Botti's five boards led a 16-rebound first quarter by the Bison
Second Quarter (Bethany 31-19)
- Bethany shot 42.9% from the floor while taking advantage of the Cougars' 23.9% shooting
- The Bison bench outscored Chatham 9-2 including four points from sophomore guard Amaria Jones (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman)
Third Quarter (Bethany 48-37)
- Garrison and Simpson got the quarter started with a couple of threes before Chatham closed the gap heading into the final frame
Fourth Quarter (Bethany 58-43)
- The Cougars cut their deficit down to single digits with seven minutes to play, but the Green and White went on a 8-2 run to close the game and to secure the victory
The Bison are back in action on Wednesday, December 17 as they host a non-conference game against Heidelberg (Ohio) University at 6 p.m. on Joe Kurey Memorial Court inside Hummel Fieldhouse.
