RALEIGH, N.C. - The Bethany College women's basketball team defeated William Peace (N.C.) University by a final score of 71-56 in a non-conference game in the Hermann Athletic Center.
Bethany (6-5) Leaders
- Graduate All-PAC guard Lindsey Garrison (Triadelphia, W.Va./Wheeling Park) tied a game-high 19 points shooting a team-best 50% from the floor with two assists and a rebound
- Junior Academic All-PAC forward Kate Botti (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) had another big day on the glass with 13 rebounds, tied a career-high four steals, and added seven points, three assists, and two blocks
- Senior Academic All-PAC forward Kaedlee Potter (Barboursville, W.Va./Cabell Midland) concluded her big roadtrip with a 16-point performance that included six rebounds, five assists, two steals, and a block
- Sophomore guard Ella Simpson (Morgantown, W.Va./University) scored nine points and sophomore guard Shaelyn Anthony (Surprise, Ariz./Shadow Ridge) scored eight as both recorded five rebounds
William Peace (6-5) Leaders
- Sophomore forward Jess Worthey led the Pacers with 19 points with five three-pointers and had seven rebounds
- Sophomore guard Zikira Henderson had a team-high eight rebounds and four assists
- Junior guard Alayna Randolph tallied four steals and finished with five points
First Quarter (Bethany 22-9)
- Garrison fueled the Bison scoring half of the team's points after shooting 83% including a perfect 3-for-3 beyond the arc
- Botti grabbed six of Bethany's 13 rebounds in the period
Second Quarter (Bethany 43-24)
- Botti scored all seven of her points while Potter and sophomore guard Amaria Jones (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman) each added four points
- The Bison forced seven turnovers with seven steals
Third Quarter (Bethany 58-38)
- The Bison dominated the key as 12 of the Green and White's 15 points came in the paint
- Bethany went on a 13-4 run to open the quarter and to take a 28-point lead: their largest of the day
Fourth Quarter (Bethany 71-56)
- The Pacers went on a 15-5 run down to the final minute, but Bethany's early lead secured the team's 15-point victory
The Bison are back in action on Wednesday, January 7 as they host a Presidents' Athletic Conference game against Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College at 5:30 p.m. on Joe Kurey Memorial Court inside Hummel Fieldhouse.
