SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Bethany College women's volleyball team competed at the 2025 Crosstown Challenge hosted by Union (N.Y.) College and Russell Sage (N.Y.) College.
On Friday, the Bison played a doubleheader at Union where they fell to Oswego State University of New York (7-2) and the host Union (7-3) both by final scores of 3-1 at the Viniar Athletic Center. The Green and White then traveled across the Hudson to Troy, New York on Saturday where they took Oneonta State University of New York (9-2) to five sets and then fell to host Russell Sage (4-5) by a score of 3-0 at the Kahl Campus Center. Averie Braymer (Saegertown, Pa.) was named to the weekend's All-Tournament Team.
vs. Oswego State
- Sophomore middle blocker Ashton Thomas (Toronto, Ohio) tallied 10 kills and four total blocks
- Freshman setter Grace Padavick (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) tied a game-high 29 assists and 14 digs
- Senior Academic All-PAC middle blocker Averie Braymer (Saegertown, Pa.) led all players with 14 kills and also registered four total blocks
- Senior Academic All-PAC Andie Clark (Columbus, Ind./Hauser) led the Green and White defense with 21 digs and had three aces
- Freshman middle blocker Layla Smith (Lakewood, Ohio) added eight kills for the Bison
at Union
- Padavick led the team in both assists and digs with 23 and 15, respectively
- Braymer and Thomas each led the team with eight kills
- Clark added 14 digs and two aces to her Friday total
- Thomas continued her big night at the net with five total blocks
- Freshman middle blocker Analesa Perdue (Steubenville, Ohio) tied a career-high six kills and three digs
vs. Oneonta
- Braymer tallied a career-high 19 kills hitting .533 on 30 attempts
- Padavick registered her first 40+ assist game with 42 against the Red Dragons while also adding 15 digs
- Thomas and Smith each recorded eight kills for the Bison offense
- Clark served up five aces and tallied 11 digs
- Freshman outside hitter Isabella Poppelriter (Wellsville, Ohio) notched her first-career double-double with a career-high 10 kills and 14 digs
- Senior outside hitter JaSona Belyeu (McKeesport, Pa.) finished with 12 digs
at Russell Sage
- Clark led the way for the defense with 13 digs and added two more aces on the weekend
- Padavick registered 18 assists and tied a career-high three service aces
- Braymer led the offense once again with eight kills and Smith followed right behind with seven kills of her own
The Bison are back in action on Tuesday, September 16 as they host a Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup against Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College at 6 p.m. on Joe Kurey Memorial Court in Hummel Fieldhouse.Â
