Women's Soccer Falls Late to Penn State-Altoona

BETHANY, W.Va. - The Bethany College women's soccer team fell to Penn State University-Altoona in a non-conference game by a final score of 2-1 at Spring Run Stadium.

Bethany (0-2) Leaders
  • Senior All-PAC midfielder Brooke Fuleki (Baltimore, Ohio/Bloom-Carroll) needed only one shot to score the first Bison goal of the season
  • Freshman defender Joselyn Juarez (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Luers) got her first start and recorded an assist in her collegiate debut
  • Junior All-PAC goalkeeper Hope Fair (Dunnville, Ontario/Lakeshore Catholic) tied a game-high five saves
  • Senior defender Emily Wenger (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) took two shots on goal
  • Senior midfielder Shunnye Christopher (Bathlodge, Antigua/Christ the King) led the team with three shots with one on goal
PSA (2-0-1) Leaders
  • Freshman midfielder Kira Trexler scored a game-best three points with a goal and an assist
  • Sophomore defender Grace Turner scored the game-winning goal
  • Junior goalkeeper Mya Torres led the Lions with five saves
First Half (Tied 1-1)
  • 10:48 - The Bison struck first as Juarez found Fuleki for an early goal
  • 44:54 - Trexler tucked one in to tie the game just before half

Second Half (PSA 2-1)

  • 74:51 - Turner scored off a pass from Trexler to give the Lions the lead
The Bison are back in action on Saturday, September 10 as they travel to Marietta, Ohio for a non-conference match against Marietta (Ohio) College at 7:30 p.m. at Marietta Field.
