Rose Scores 1,000th Career Point as Men's Basketball Falls to Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. - The Bethany College men's basketball team fell to Geneva (Pa.) College by a final score of 90-82 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game as senior guard Co Rose (Odessa, Texas) scored his 1,000th career point in Metheny Fieldhouse.

Rose becomes the latest Bethany player to join the 1,000-point club, and although this is only his first year wearing the Green and White, he has consistently been one of the team's best scorers. Rose needed 19 coming into the game and finished with 24 to put him at 274 on the year marking his third collegiate season scoring over 250 points.

Bethany (7-9, 3-4 PAC) Leaders
  • Rose scored 24 points including shooting 57% from three while also leading the team with six assists and three steals
  • Sophomore forward Jayden Jackson (Columbia, S.C./A.C. Flora) finished with 18 points, eight rebounds, and a career-high four assists
  • Senior forward Alex Andrews (Ocoee, Fla.) posted a career-high 11 points on 5-for-6 shooting with a team-leading nine rebounds
  • Freshman guard Jaden Stewart (Pikeville, Ky./Pike County Central) shot 4-for-9 from three for 14 points and added six rebounds
  • Graduate Academic All-PAC guard Troy Hixson (Grove City, Ohio/Bishop Ready) also scored ten points and brought down two rebounds
  • Senior guard Ryan Reasbeck (Washington, Pa./Wheeling Central Catholic) tied a team-high three steals and added two assists and a block
Geneva (8-9, 5-3 PAC) Leaders
  • Senior guard Nick Million scored a game-high 28 points with 12 rebounds
  • Sophomore guard Tommy Coletti grabbed 14 rebounds and scored 13 points for another Geneva double-double
  • Senior guard Jonathan Bertovich led the team with eight assists while also scoring nine points and tallying seven rebounds
First Half (Geneva 47-42)
  • Geneva got out to a hot 11-2 start, but the Bison clawed their way back to take a 29-25 lead with five minutes left in the half
  • Rose and Jackson scored or assisted on 38 of Bethany's 42 points in the half
  • Andrews and Jackson led the Bison on the glass with five rebounds and four rebounds, respectively
Second Half (Bethany 90-82)
  • Stewart drilled three threes and sunk two free-throws for 11 second-half points
  • A Million jumper gave the Golden Tornadoes a 71-52 lead which was their biggest of the day before the Bison went on a 16-5 run to eventually cut the lead to six
  • Rose drilled a pull-up three with three minutes remaining to score his 1,000th career point
The Bison are back in action on Wednesday, January 28 as they travel to Latrobe, Pennsylvania to take on Saint Vincent (Pa.) College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game at 7:30 p.m. in the Robert S. Carey Center.
