LATROBE, Pa. - The Bethany College women's basketball team defeated Saint Vincent (Pa.) College by a final score of 64-57 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game in the Robert S. Carey Center.
Bethany (12-6, 7-2 PAC) Leaders
- Graduate All-PAC guard Lindsey Garrison (Triadelphia, W.Va./Wheeling Park) scored 15 points, including connecting on two threes and also grabbed two rebounds
- Freshman guard and PAC Newcomer of the Week Lindsey Best (Rayland, Ohio/Martins Ferry) shot 6-for-10 from the field for a game-high 16 points while adding six rebounds, two assists, an assist, and a block
- Junior Academic All-PAC forward Kate Botti (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) posted a game-high 12 rebounds while leading the team in assists with four and scoring nine points
- Senior Academic All-PAC forward Kaedlee Potter (Barboursville, W.Va./Cabell Midland) also finished in double-figures with 13 points, seven rebounds, and four assists
- Sophomore guard Ella Simpson (Morgantown, W.Va./University) led all players with three steals and added six points and three assists
Saint Vincent (13-5, 8-1 PAC) Leaders
- Junior guard Danielle Pontius tallied a game-high six assists
- Sophomore forward Avina Norman led the team in scoring with 13 points
- Senior guard Reese Gadsby corralled a team-best seven rebounds
First Quarter (Bethany 18-16)
- Botti picked up four of her 12 rebounds as the Bison owned the glass by a 14-9 margin
- Potter converted on three of Bethany's six field goals and assisted on another
Second Quarter (Saint Vincent 35-34)
- The Green and White defense forced five turnovers with two steals
- All 16 of Bethany's points came in the paint as the team shot 50%
Third Quarter (Tied 45-45)
- Bethany scored seven straight to start the half and held the lead for nine minutes until the Bearcats tied it at the buzzer
Fourth Quarter (Bethany 64-57)
- Garrison and Best came alive when the Bison needed it most scoring seven points and eight points, respectively
- The Bison got out to a 14-5 run over the first eight minutes to give the team a 10-point lead: their largest of the day
The Bison are back in action on Saturday, January 31 as they host Allegheny (Pa.) College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game at 1 p.m. on Joe Kurey Memorial Court inside Hummel Fieldhouse.
