Four Named to CSC Academic All-District Football Team

BETHANY, W.Va. - Bethany College football student-athletes junior quarterback Brett Phillips (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park), junior linebacker Cam Bailey (Huntington, W.Va./Spring Valley), sophomore offensive lineman Alex Beaver (Bethesda, Ohio/Union Local), and sophomore defensive lineman Tristan Tubbs (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) have all been named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.

In order to qualify for Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a sophomore academically and athletically, must carry a 3.50 or higher grade point average and must have competed in 90 percent of the institution's games.

Phillips earns his second career Academic All-District honor after appearing in and starting seven games under center for the Bison in 2025. This season, the Presidents' Athletic Conference honorable mention completed 146 passes for 1,615 yards to average 230.71 yards per game. Phillips completed 63.8% of his passes and threw 12 touchdown passes with nine interceptions. On the ground, he rushed for a team-best 330 yards on 87 carries with two touchdowns to total 1,945 yards of offense on the year. Phillips also had two punts for a total of 81 yards. 

In his Bethany career, Phillips has appeared in 17 games where he has thrown for 3,657 yards with 29 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. He has a lifetime completion percentage of 60.1% and has averaged 215.12 passing yards per game. Phillips has also rushed for 630 yards on 208 carries with three touchdowns to total 4,287 yards in his career. He has also registered a tackle and four punts for 147 yards. Phillips is a two-time All-PAC selection and a three-time PAC Newcomer of the Week honoree. Academically, he has earned a 3.61 grade point average as an education major.

Bailey earns his first Academic All-District accolade after appearing and starting in all 10 games for the Green and White. He helped lead the Bison defense, where he was second on the team in tackles with 65, including 31 solos, and third on the team with five tackles for loss for 14 yards. Bailey also broke up three passes, registered one quarterback hurry, forced one fumble, and was sixth in all of NCAA Division III with three fumble recoveries.

In his career, Bailey has appeared in 18 games where he has registered 76 tackles, including six tackles for loss for 16 yards. He has also broken up three passes, forced one fumble, and recovered four fumbles. Bailey also recorded a safety against Grove City on Oct. 5, 2024. He is a two-time Academic All-PAC honoree. Academically, Bailey has earned a 3.83 grade point average as a biology major and was Bethany's September PAC Scholar Athlete of the Month.

Beaver is also named to the Academic All-District Team for the first time in his career after appearing and starting in all 10 games at center for Bethany. This season, he anchored an offensive line that averaged 267.3 yards of total offense.

In his career, Beaver has appeared in 15 games on the Bison offensive line and was a 2024 Academic All-PAC honoree. Academically, Beaver has earned a 3.81 grade point average as a sports management major.

Tubbs is also a first-time Academic All-District honoree after appearing in and starting all 10 games for the Bison. At defensive tackle, he made 20 tackles, including 11 solos as well as registering three tackles for loss and two sacks for eight yards.

In his career, Tubbs has appeared in 15 games and has recorded 23 tackles, including three tackles for loss and two sacks for eight yards. Tubbs is also a 2024 Academic All-PAC honoree. Academically, he has earned a 3.75 grade point average as a computer science major.

The four student-athletes now advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot, which will be announced on January 27.

The Bison finished the 2025 season with an overall record of 1-9 and a 1-7 record in the PAC.
