Women's Basketball Closes Out Regular Season with Win Over Franciscan on Senior Day

BETHANY, W.Va. - The Bethany College women's basketball team celebrated Senior Day as they defeated the Franciscan University of Steubenville (Ohio) by a final score of 88-66 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game on Joe Kurey Memorial Court inside Hummel Fieldhouse.

Prior to the game, Bethany honored seniors Kate Botti (Irwin, Pa./Norwin), Taylor Dusenberry (Dilliner, Pa./Mapletown), and Kaedlee Potter (Barboursville, W.Va./Cabell-Midland). In front of a packed crowd and against their neighbors from across the river, Bethany (16-9, 11-5 PAC) had one last test before the PAC Tournament. It was all Bethany from the starting tipoff as Bison shot the lights out with a 50% shooting percentage from the floor while the Green and White defense held Franciscan (3-22, 0-16 PAC) to 36% shooting.

Bethany Leaders
  • Senior Academic All-PAC guard Taylor Dusenberry (Dilliner, Pa./Mapletown) finished with five points, four rebounds, two steals, a block, and an assist in what could be her final home game for the Bison
  • Junior Academic All-PAC forward Kate Botti (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) grabbed a team-high seven boards while posting four points, two assists, and two steals in her final game of the regular season
  • Senior Academic All-PAC forward Kaedlee Potter (Barboursville, W.Va./Cabell-Midland) scored 14 points and added three rebounds and two assists on her Senior Day
  • Graduate All-PAC guard Lindsey Garrison (Triadelphia, W.Va./Wheeling Park) led the Bison offense again with 17 points including five three-pointers and added three assists
  • Sophomore guard Ella Simpson (Morgantown, W.Va./University) tallied 11 points, three assists, and three rebounds on the day
  • Sophomore guard Martina Howe (Clarksburg, W.Va./Robert C. Byrd) made it two straight games in double-figures with 10 points, two assists, a block, a steal, and a rebound
  • Freshman guard Lindsey Best (Rayland, Ohio/Martins Ferry) contributed six points, four assists, four rebounds, and two steals for the Bison
Franciscan Leaders
  • Graduate guard Jazzlyn Melnyk had a game-high 19 points with five threes
  • Junior forward Maria McCallen posted a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds with five assists
  • Sophomore guard Abbigail Jannuzzi also scored 11 points for the Barons
The Bison are back in action on Saturday, February 21 as they travel to Meadville, Pennsylvania to take on No. 2 seeded Allegheny (Pa.) College in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals at 6 p.m. in the David V. Wise Center.
