Women's Lacrosse Wins Season Opener at Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Bethany College women's lacrosse team defeated Franklin (Ind.) College by a final score of 12-10 in a non-conference game to open the 2026 season at Faught Stadium.

Bethany (1-0) Leaders
  • Junior Academic All-PAC midfielder Tatum Severe (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley) led the way for the Bison with four goals and an assist while also winning three draw controls
  • Senior All-PAC defender Emily Wenger (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) finished with 11 draw controls, three goals, an assist, and led the Bethany defense with six caused turnovers and nine ground balls
  • Junior midfielder Catharina Recabeitia (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Escuela Normal Superior-Vicente Fatone) added two goals, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers
  • Senior Academic All-PAC goalkeeper Madison Wagoner (Morgantown, W.Va./University) got her first victory of the season after making 11 saves
  • Freshman attack Elaina Felter (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) scored her first career goal in her collegiate debut 
  • Senior defender Janez Matthews (Annapolis, Md.) and junior Academic All-PAC midfielder Ally Barclay (Nashport, Ohio/Tri-Valley) supplied the Green and White offense with a goal each
  • Attack Grace Schweickert (Hiram, Ohio/Crestwood) made one assist and grabbed one ground ball
  • Senior Academic All-PAC defender Gabby Hicks (Chinchilla, Australia) recorded three ground balls
Franklin (0-1) Leaders
  • Junior midfielder Addie Whitman led all players with 10 ground balls
  • Junior defender Claire Ecenbarger tied a game-high four goals and added four ground balls
  • Freshman goalkeeper Sophie Taylor made eight saves for the Grizzlies
The Bison are back in action on Wednesday, February 25  as they travel to New Concord, Ohio to take on Muskingum (Ohio) University in a non-conference game at 5 p.m. at the Bullock Health and Wellness Complex.
