Women's Lacrosse Blows Away Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. - The Bethany College women's lacrosse team defeated Geneva (Pa.) College by a final score of 16-5 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game on Wright Field at Veterans Park.

Bethany (6-3, 3-1 PAC) Leaders
  • Senior defender Janez Matthews (Annapolis, Md.) scored a career-high five goals to lead the Bison offense while also recording four ground balls, two caused turnovers, and two draw controls
  • Senior All-PAC defender Emily Wenger (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) had a team-high nine points with three goals and nine assists as well as six ground balls, six draw controls, and five caused turnovers
  • Senior attack Grace Schweickert (Hiram, Ohio/Crestwood) scored three in her second consecutive game where she added an assist for a career-best four points
  • Senior Academic All-PAC goalkeeper Madison Wagoner (Morgantown, W.Va./University) made five saves and scooped up four ground balls
  • Junior Academic All-PAC midfielder and PAC Offensive Player of the Week Tatum Severe (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley) scored two goals and assisted once to go along with six ground balls, three draw controls, and two forced turnovers
  • Junior midfielder Catharina Recabeitia (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Escuela Normal Superior-Vicente Fatone) also scored twice and notched three ground balls
  • Freshman attack Hayden Chickerell (Fairmont, W.Va./Fairmont Senior) scored in her third straight game while causing one turnover and picking up one ground ball defensively
  • Freshman attack Elaina Felter (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) added an assist and a ground ball
Geneva (1-11, 0-4 PAC) Leaders
  • Senior midfielder Hannah Skwarek led the GT offense with three points including two goals
  • Junior attack Julianna Easley had a team-high seven ground balls with four caused turnovers
  • Junior goalkeeper Lexi Lee made 10 saves in the crease
The Bison are back in action on Thursday, April 2 as they host a Presidents' Athletic Conference game against Saint Vincent (Pa.) College at 5 p.m. on Don Ault Field at Bison Stadium.
