Fourth Quarter Surge Lifts Women's Lacrosse in Comeback Win over Mount Aloysius

CRESSON, Pa. - The Bethany College women's lacrosse team defeated Mount Aloysius (Pa.) College by a final score of 8-6 in a non-conference game at Kelly Field.

Bethany (7-5) Leaders
  • Senior Academic All-PAC goalkeeper Madison Wagoner (Morgantown, W.Va./University) made eight saves for her seventh win which breaks the program's single-season record for a goalie
  • Senior All-PAC defender Emily Wenger (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) scored a game-high three goals with one assist while also notching two caused turnovers, seven draw controls, and 12 ground balls for her third 10+ ground-ball game this season
  • Junior midfielder Kamora Figueroa (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco) and junior Academic All-PAC midfielder Tatum Severe (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley) each added one goal, one ground ball, and one caused turnover 
  • Senior attack Grace Schweickert (Hiram, Ohio/Crestwood) posted yet another assist while also tallying three ground balls and two caused turnovers
  • Senior defender Janez Matthews (Annapolis, Md.) scored two fourth-quarter goals to help lead Bethany's comeback while also recording eight ground balls and four draw controls
  • Senior Academic All-PAC midfielder Lexie Reid (Louisville, Ky./Ballard) scored her fourth goal of the year with one ground ball
  • Senior midfielder Catharina Recabeitia (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Escuela Normal Superior-Vicente Fatone) picked up three ground balls while senior Academic All-PAC defender Gabby Hicks (Chincilla, Australia) added two and a caused turnover
Mount Aloysius (3-6-1) Leaders
  • Junior attack Cassidy Cook led the Mountie offense with two goals and one assist
  • Senior defender Shelby Smeal recorded a team-high eight ground balls
  • Freshman goalkeeper Keira Murray made seven saves
The Bison are back in action on Wednesday, April 15 as they host a Presidents' Athletic Conference game against Grove City (Pa.) College at 4 p.m. on Don Ault Field at Bison Stadium.
