NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Bethany College has landed multiple Track and Field athletes to the Presidents' Athletic Conference awards list of the week. Freshman
Jason Ellman (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) and Junior
Jalen Britton (Fort Lee, Va./Prince George) have both earned honors in their respective categories.
Newcomer of the Week:
Ellman picked up this outdoor season where he left off from his NCAA All-American indoor season.
Ellman took bronze in two events: the 200m and Long Jump. His 21.63 in the 200m bested 65 of the 67 other runners entered. After running,
Ellman leaped 7.17m, securing more points for the Bison.
Ellman then assisted Bethany to a fourth place finish in the 4x100.
The freshman is currently second in the PAC in the 200m dash. He is also holding the runner-up position in the long jump by only .02 meters. This marks
Ellman's first PAC Outdoor T&F Newcomer of the Week and second overall NOTW.
Field Athlete of the Week:
Britton earned his first PAC weekly award in style, smashing the discus school record. His 48.61m toss won him the John Homon Open, throwing farther than 18 DII athletes along the way. The Bethany College discus record stood for 30 years before
Britton broke the record last weekend.
Britton also participated in the Hammer Throw and the Shotput.
With this last invite,
Britton became the leader of the PAC by over four meters (nearly 15 feet). He also ranks top 10 in the conference shot put standings, holding down 9th place with a 12.34m throw
The Bison are back on the track (and field) this Friday as they travel to Otterbein for their annual Twilight Meet. Start time is scheduled to be 11:30 am with a rolling start.
