WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. - The Bethany College men's track and field team opened the outdoor season at the Tim Weaver Memorial Invitational hosted by West Liberty (W.Va.) University at the West Family Athletic Complex.
The Bison traveled right down the road to face off in their first outdoor meet of the year, where the Green and White were one of 21 teams competing in the Invitational and had eight Top-5 finishes.
Freshman All-American
Jason Ellman (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) comes off a big showing at the 2025-26 NCAA Indoor Championships by taking second in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash. In the 100, he was first in the prelims with a quailfying time of 10.96 and then ran a 10.92 in the finals to take home silver.
Ellman then ran a 22.27 in the 200 trailing only West Lib's Tristin Ohler. He also anchored the men's 4x100 relay that finished second with a time of 42.66 alongside freshmen teammates
Juan Colon (Lancaster, Pa./McCaskey),
Ziacheas White (Waycross, Ga./Ware County), and
Ja'Vonni O'hara (Waycross, Ga./Ware County).
Freshman
Jamari Curlett (Erie, Pa./North East) had a strong collegiate debut where he finished fourth in the 100 with a time of 11.15.
Junior
Daryes'e Fleming (Joppa, Md./Joppatowne) ran a 22.87 in the 200 to finish fourth overall and also finished sixth in the 400 with a time of 52.12.
Colon also finished second in the 400 with a time of 50.99 and also placed sixth in the 200 with a dash of 23.16 for two Top-10 finishes on the day.
In the first hammer throw of the year, senior
Koda Moore (Proctor, W.Va./John Marshall) recorded a personal-best mark of 43.08 meters to finish sixth while junior
Jalen Britton (Fort Lee, Va./Prince George) marked a personal-best distance of 25.99.
Britton also finished fifth in the discus with a toss of 40.79.
Junior
Dave Rene (Boynton Beach, Fla./Lakewood) and freshman
Tyler Fett (Oxford, Pa./New Oxford) took on the jumping events.
Rene placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 6.39 while
Fett finished sixth and seventh with marks of 1.60 and 11.31 in the high jump and triple jump, respectively.
The Bison are back in action on Friday, April 3 as they travel to Athens, Ohio to compete at the Cherry Blossom Invitational hosted by Ohio University at Goldsberry Track.
