MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The Bethany College men's track and field team competed at the Presidents' Athletic Conference 2026 Outdoor Championships at The Track & Field Complex at Mylan Park.
The Bison's dream season continues to be a reality as the Bison won three different events and will leave Morgantown with six top-five finishes. Bethany placed seventh out of 12 teams with 52 total team points while Geneva (Pa.) College takes home the top spot with 145.5 team points.
Freshman
Jamari Curlett (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) continues to break records as he was a part of two of Bethany's gold finishes. Individually, he won the 100-meter dash out of 28 runners with a time of 10.62 seconds after taking first in the prelims with a qualifying time of 10.59.
Curlett was also a part of the Bison 4x100 that earned gold and shattered the program record that was set just two weeks ago.
Curlett, along with freshman
Ziacheas White (Waycross, Ga./Ware County), freshman
Jason Ellman (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep), and All-PAC junior
Caliyph McClinton (Pittsburgh, Pa./Neighborhood Academy) completed the relay with a time of 40.64 which now ranks number five in all of NCAA Division III.
The Bison's third and final champion of the day came in the form of senior
Koda Moore (Proctor, W.Va./John Marshall).
Moore dominated the hammer throw's 22-man field with a mark of 45.58 to win the event beating the second-place toss by nearly a meter and a half. He would also lead the Bison in the shot put with a distance of 11.83 to place 12th overall.
Not counting the 4x100,
Ellman finished the day with a top-three medal in three separate events. First, he ran a 10.92 in the 100 to complement
Curlett on the podium and then took second in the 200 with a time of 21.96. Just when you thought
Ellman's day was done, he went and jumped a 6.81 in the long jump to take second to individually total 22 of the team's 52 points. This landed him back-to-back Newcomer of the Year honors as well as the PAC's Overall Most Valuable Player Award for his efforts in both the track and field events.
Also competing in the 200 were White who ran a 22.37, junior
Daryes'e Fleming (Joppa, Md./Joppatowne) who ran a 22.70, and freshman
Ja'Vonni O'hara (Waycross, Ga./Ware County) who ran a 23.73. All three also ran in the 100 prelims along with junior
Shavel Lesley (Whitehall, Ohio/Whitehall-Yearling).
Fleming had a career day that included his personal-best mark in the 200 and followed that by representing the Bison in the 400 with another PR of 51.05.
Joining
Ellman in the long jump was junior
Dave Rene (Boynton Beach, Fla./Lakewood) who had a distance of 6.30 to finish tenth out of 22 jumpers. Freshman
Tyler Fett (Oxford, Pa./New Oxford) was the only other Bison jumper to compete as he notched a 11.80 in the triple jump and was named to the 2026 PAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Sportsmanship Team.
Junior
Shonathan Desena (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area Senior) led the way in the discus after a 34.10-meter throw that earned him a team-best tenth-place finish. Joining
Desena was sophomore
Xavier Cole (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) and junior
Cyrus Brown (Clinton, Md./Surrattsville) who had marks of 29.58 and 27.77, respectively. All three followed
Moore in the shot along with senior
Zaire Tullis (Hartford, Conn./Capital Prep Magnet School) who represented the Bison in the javelin with a toss of 37.62 meters.
The 4x100 relay team will be back in action from Thursday, May 21 to Saturday, May 23 as they travel to La Crosse, Wisconsin to compete at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Veteran's Memorial Field Sports Complex.
