AKRON, Ohio - The Bethany College track & field teams competed at the Akron Last Chance Invitational hosted by the University of Akron (Ohio) at the Lee R. Jackson Track & Field Complex.
The Bison had eight athletes facing off against Division I competition in the Last Chance to try and earn a spot in the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the end of the month.Â
Among the Bethany participants were the men's 4x100-meter relay of junior
Daryes'e Fleming (Joppa, Md./Joppatowne), freshman
Jamari Curlett (Erie, Pa./North East), freshman
Jason Ellman (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep), and junior
Caliyph McClinton (Pittsburgh, Pa./Neighborhood Academy) who finished third with a time of 42.03.Â
Curlett ran a career-best 10.47 in the 100 which currently ranks 25th in the nation and came in fourth while
McClinton placed seventh out of 15 runners by timing a 10.68.Â
Fleming and freshmanÂ
Ja'Vonni O'hara (Waycross, Ga./Ware County) also ran the 100 and finished with times of 11.26 and 11.28, respectively.
Junior
Madi Donelson (Lanham, Md./Annapolis Area Christian) was the only member of the women's team back in action as she placed sixth in the 100 with a time of 12.87.
Junior
Jalen Britton (Fort Lee, Va./Prince George) was the lone thrower at the Last Chance as he tossed the discus and finished with a mark of 41.60 to place sixth.
Freshman
Ziacheas White (Waycross, Ga./Ware County) represented the Bison in the 200-meter dash where he clocked a 22.88 to finish 12th overall.
The 4x100 relay team will be back in action from Thursday, May 21 to Saturday, May 23 as they travel to La Crosse, Wisconsin to compete at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Veteran's Memorial Field Sports Complex.
