Nine Student-Athletes Earn 2026 CSC Academic All-District At-Large Bids

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Nine Bethany College student-athletes have earned at-large bids to the 2026 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.

In order to qualify for Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a sophomore academically and athletically, must carry a 3.50 or higher grade point average and must have competed in 90 percent of the institution's events.

Women's lacrosse student-athletes junior Tatum Severe (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley), senior Madison Wagoner (Morgantown, W.Va./University), and senior Emily Wenger (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff), and sophomore women's golfer Natalie DuShole (Waterford, Pa./Fort LeBouf) have all earned CSC Academic All-District honors on the women's at-large team. On the men's side, men's volleyball sophomores Emilio Feliciano (El Mirage, Ariz./Dysart) and Cole Thomas (Lindside, W.Va./James Monroe), graduate men's wrestler Zach Kuneff (Martins Ferry, Ohio/Bridgeport), men's lacrosse sophomore Chance Funari (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park), and junior men's golfer Samuel Phillips (Charleston, W.Va./Herbert Hoover) each earn a spot on the CSC Academic All-District Team.

Severe is the first recipient of a CSC Academic All-District accolade after appearing in and starting all 17 games for the Bison. She was named to the All-PAC team for the first time in her career after leading the Bethany offense with 37 goals which includes five free-position goals and added 11 assists to tie a team-high 48 points. Severe was also second on the team with 44 draw controls while tallying 37 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers. She earned the PAC Offensive Player of the Week on March 30 and was also selected to the 2026 PAC All-Tournament Team. Severe was named Bethany's April Female Scholar Athlete of the Month. 

In her career, Severe has appeared in 48 games and has made 47 starts. She has scored 77 goals and has added 23 assists as she currently ranks third on Bethany's all-time points list with a total of 100. Severe has also recorded 76 draw controls in her career along with 78 ground balls and 40 caused turnovers. She is a two-time Academic All-PAC honoree and a former PAC Player of the Week. Academically, Severe has earned a 3.85 grade point average as a social work major.

Wagoner was also named to the Academic All-District team after appearing in and starting all 17 games in goal for the Bison this season. She finished with a single-season program record eight wins and tallied 110 saves in her senior season. Wagoner earned the first shutout victory in Bethany women's lacrosse history against Hiram on Mar. 25 and recorded a .357 save percentage while also collecting 38 ground balls.

In her career, Wagoner has appeared in 46 games and has made 22 starts. She has a career record of 9-13 which ties the career record for most wins by a Bethany goalie. Wagoner has made 194 career saves and has held opponents to a 14.18 goals allowed average and a .345 save percentage. She also has picked up 60 ground balls and is a two-time Academic All-PAC honoree. Academically, Wagoner has earned a 3.81 grade point average as a psychology major. 

Wenger earns CSC Academic All-District honors after winning PAC Defensive Player of the Year and leading the Bison in most statistical categories. This season, she appeared in all 17 games and made 15 starts where she led the team and the conference with 102 ground balls to set a new Bethany women's lacrosse single-season record. Wenger broke the single-game ground balls record on three separate occasions this season and finished with a program-best 12 against Mount Aloysius on April 11. She also led the team with a program-record 67 caused turnovers and 87 draw controls in 2026. Offensively, Wenger assisted a single-season best 14 times and scored 34 goals with four in the free position to total a team-best 48 points. She also set the single-game record in points, assists, draw controls, and caused turnovers this season. Wenger was named the PAC Defensive Player of the Week on February 23 and March 2, and was named the PAC Midfielder of the Week on April 27. 

In her career, Wenger has appeared in 52 games and has made 46 starts. She holds the program's career record in ground balls with 222, in draw controls with 199, in caused turnovers with 134, and in assists with 29. Wenger has also scored 70 goals for 99 career points. She is a two-time All-PAC selection, an Academic All-PAC honoree, a four-time PAC Player of the Week, the PAC's May Scholar Athlete of the Month, and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. Academically, Wenger has earned a 3.75 grade point average as an environmental science major.

DuShole represents women's golf on the Academic All-District team after competing in seven different tournaments and 10 rounds this year where she had an average stroke score of 97 on the season. She had two top-three finishes and finished 19th at the 2025-26 PAC Championships with a four-round score of 377 (+89). In her career, DuShole has competed in 20 rounds at 17 tournaments. She is an Academic All-PAC selection and was named to the 2024-25 PAC Women's Golf Sportsmanship Team. Academically, DuShole has earned a 3.77 grade point average as an environmental science major.

Feliciano earns CSC Academic All-District honors in his first season as a Bison after appearing in 19 matches and making 13 starts. He tallied 54 kills on the year which was third on the team and was also second on the team with 18 blocks including six solos. Feliciano was also second on the team with eight aces and finished the season with 74 points. He also added 23 digs and three assists. Academically, Feliciano has earned a 3.70 grade point average as a computer science major.

Thomas was also selected to the Academic All-District team after earning All-PAC honorable mention in 2026. This season, he appeared in 17 matches and 52 sets as Bethany's libero where he led the team with 115 digs for an average of 2.21 digs per set. Thomas was also fifth on the team with a career-high 32 assists and added one kill for one point. He was named the PAC's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Scholar Athlete of the Month in March.

In his career, Thomas has appeared in 41 matches and 131 sets. He has recorded the most digs in program history with 263 for an average of 2.01 per set while also recording 62 assists and four kills for four points. Thomas is an Academic All-PAC honoree and is a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. Academically, Thomas has earned a 4.0 grade point average as a political science major.

Kuneff was the only Bison wrestler to earn Academic All-District honors after helping lead the men's wrestling team in the program's return. In his first season, he appeared in five tournaments and seven duals where he had a 15-10 record that included six pins, three major decisions, and three decision victories. He was fifth on the team with 96 team points and placed third in the heavyweight bracket at the PAC Championships to earn All-PAC honorable mention. Academically, Kuneff has earned a 4.0 grade point average as a master's in business administration candidate.  

Funari represents men's lacrosse on the CSC Academic All-District team after appearing in all 16 games this season and making 14 starts. He led the team with 10 assists while also scoring six goals to finish the year with 16 points. Defensively, he was third on the team in both ground balls with 34 and in caused turnovers with 14. Funari was named the Male Comeback Athlete of the Year at the 2026 Bison Awards. 

In his career, Funari has appeared in 27 games and has made 14 starts. He has scored 12 goals and has notched 13 assists for 25 career points. Funari has also recorded 62 ground balls with 21 caused turnovers and is an Academic All-PAC honoree. Academically, Funari has earned a 3.94 grade point average.

Phillips earns his first Academic All-District honor after appearing in 11 tournaments and 15 rounds where he averaged 85 strokes per round. He took home second at the Waynesburg Fall Invitational and placed 35th at the 2025-26 PAC Championships with a four-round score of 361 (+77). Phillips was named PAC Men's Golf Player of the Week on Oct. 7. In his Bethany career, he has appeared in 30 rounds across 22 tournaments and is an Academic All-PAC honoree. Academically, Phillips has earned a 3.81 grade point average as a business major.

The nine student-athletes now advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot with the women's team being announced on July 7 and the men's team being announced on July 8.
