BETHANY, W.Va. - The Bethany College women's soccer team battled through a challenging Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup Friday night, closing out the first night of Homecoming weekend with a late goal in a 7-1 loss to Westminster (Pa.) College on Don Ault Field at Bison Stadium.
Senior Academic All-PAC forward Brionna Bash (Niles, Ohio/Niles McKinley) led Bethany (0-5-2, 0-2-0 PAC) attack with four shots, including two shots on goal. Senior Academic All-PAC forward Jordan Palmer (East Liverpool, Ohio/Beaver Local) added two shots and played a key role in the Bison's lone goal of the evening.
Bethany's best moment came late in the second half when senior Academic All-PAC defender Chloe Lee (Huntington, W.Va./St. Joseph Central Catholic) found the back of the net in the 89th minute. Palmer provided the assist, giving the Bison a much-needed offensive spark and putting Bethany on the scoreboard. The play marked a strong finish for Lee, who played all 90 minutes at defender.
Westminster (5-0-1, 2-0-0 PAC) Leaders
Freshman midfielder Amelia Brose and freshman forward Kennedy Kuntz each scored twice, while Quinn Arnold also added two goals. Madeline Barr scored Westminster's first goal of the game, assisted by Brooke Galcik.
Although the result moved Bethany to 0-5-2 overall and 0-2 in PAC play, the Bison will have a chance to respond quickly. Bethany returns to action Tuesday, Sept. 22, at home against Waynesburg for its third Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup of the season.
