CANONSBURG, Pa. - The Bethany College men's golf team competed in the Peter C. Rossin Memorial Invitational hosted by Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College at Southpointe Golf Club.
The Bison faced off for the third time in the last week in one of their biggest tournaments of the spring where the Green and White faced six other Presidents' Athletic Conference teams and placed sixth out of nine squads. Bethany had a four-player score of 355 (+63) on the Par-73 course which was won by the University of Mount Union (Ohio) who fired a 329 (+27).
Junior
Payton Hildebrand (Wellsburg, W.Va./Wheeling Central Catholic) had the best outing for the Bison where he shot an 86 (+13) to finish tied for 16th overall. He notched two birdies, which was tied for the second-most in the tournament, with six pars and averaged just one stroke over on Par-five holes.
All-PAC junior
Jude Smith (Weirton, W.Va./Weir) trailed right behind
Hildebrand at 20th place as he carded an 87 (+14) on the day. He tallied seven pars to help lead the Bison to 26 as a team and averaged 3.67 strokes on Par-3 holes.
Sophomore
Nash Hays (Heath, Ohio) and freshman
Brayden Roberts (Franklin, Ky./Franklin-Simpson) each shot a 91 (+18) with two birdies while also recording five pars and two pars, respectively, to round out the team score.
Junior
Samuel Phillips (Charleston, W.Va./Herbert Hoover) also competed for the Bison as he carded a 93 (+20) with four pars and a birdie.
The Bison are back in action as they travel to Granville, Ohio to compete at the Denison Spring Shootout hosted by Denison (Ohio) University at the Denison Golf Club.
