NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Bethany College football freshman running back
Jackson Ragland (Fairburn, Ga./Westlake) has been named the Presidents' Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week for the first time in his career.
Ragland earns the conference's first weekly accolade of the year after leading the Bison return team in Saturday's season-opening victory against Sewanee. Against the Tigers, the first-year had six returns for 173 yards to average 28.83 yards per return, which currently ranks third in NCAA Division III.
Ragland's big game included a 79-yard return in the fourth quarter that he took down to the Sewanee 14 to set up a vital score for the Bison. His first collegiate play was a 24-yard return on the opening kickoff, and he also had returns of 20 yards, 17 yards, 17 yards, and 16 yards to help lead the Green and White to a 40-37 victory.
The Bison are back in action Saturday, September 12 as they travel to Berea, Ohio to take on Baldwin Wallace (Ohio) University in a non-conference game at 1:30 p.m. at George Finnie Stadium.
