ASHLAND, Ohio - The Bethany College track and field teams competed at the Ashland Collegiate Tune-Up hosted by Ashland (Ohio) University in the Niss Athletic Center.
The women's team was led by junior
Madison Donelson (Lanham, Md./Annapolis Area Christian), sophomore
Azlyn Cates (Upper Marlboro, Md./Frederick Douglass), and junior
Mary Tracey (Clarksburg, W.Va./Liberty) in the track events.
Donelson just missed the finals cutoff in the 60-meter dash prelims with a time of 8.11 and also finished 13th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.21.
Cates also ran in both the 60-meter prelims and the 200-meter with times of 9.01 and 30.25, respectively.
Tracey represented the Bison in the 3000-meter run by clocking a 14:45.53
Senior
Makenna Philson (Greenville, Pa.) led the way for the Bison in the throwing events once again by finishing 18th in the weight throw with a measure of 12.10 and 20th in the shot put with a distance of 10.28 meters. Senior
Amelia Ferguson (Bakersfield, Calif./Highland) followed close behind in the weight throw with a 11.58-meter throw and also tossed a 8.58 in the shot put. Freshman
Ariana Augustine (Claysville, Pa./McGuffey) was second for Bethany in the shot put with a throw of 9.19 meters and added a 11.29-meter toss in the weight throw. Sophomore
Marissa French (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) also threw the shot put well with a distance of 9.45 meters and notched a distance of 10.44 meters in the weight throw.Â
On the men's side, the Bison were led by junior
Daryes'e Fleming (Joppa, Md./Joppatowne) as he finished eighth overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.97 and 12th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.92. Also running in the 200 were freshman
Duke Dudley (St. Petersburg, Fla./Canterbury) and
Ja'Vonni O'hara (Waycross, Ga./Ware County) who ran a 23.88 and a 23.93, respectively.
Freshman
Ziacheas White (Waycross, Ga./Ware County) finished 17th overall in the long jump with a distance of 5.62 meters and also led the Bison in the 60-meter prelims with a time of 7.17. In the triple jump, junior
Willie Holden (Exmore, Va./Broadwater Academy) jumped a 12.24 and freshman
Tyler Fett (Oxford, Pa./New Oxford) jumped a 11.52.
Junior
Jalen Britton (Fort Lee, Va./Prince George) and senior
Koda Moore (Proctor, W.Va./John Marshall) led the Bethany throwers finishing 18th (13.05) and 19th (12.69) in the weight throw.
Moore then led the Bison in the shot put with a distance of 12.16 while
Britton threw a 11.84. Other Bison competing in both the weight throw and shot put are junior
Cyrus Brown (Clinton, Md./Surrattsville) and
Kevin Leach (Salisbury, N.C./West Rowan) while junior
Shonathan Desena (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area Senior) and sophomore
Zaire Tullis (Hartford, Conn./Capital Prep Magnet School) each tossed the shot put.Â
The Bison are back in action on Friday, February 27 as they travel to Youngstown, Ohio to compete at the Presidents' Athletic Conference Indoor Championships.
