ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Bethany College track and field teams competed at the John Homon Open hosted by the University of Mount Union (Ohio) at Kehres Stadium.
The women's team fielded seven athletes at the Open where the Bison were led by junior
Madison Donelson (Lanham, Md./Annapolis Area Christian) and sophomore
Shaelyn Anthony (Surprise, Ariz./Shadow Ridge) who ran in both the 200-meter dash and the 4x100-meter relay.
Donelson ran a 29.94 in the 200 to finish 15th out of 41 runners while
Anthony timed a 27.65 to place 25th.
Also running for the Green and White in the 100-meter dash prelims were freshman
Yakira Cunningham (Columbus, Ohio/Centennial) and junior
Cierra Toland (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park). Together, the four Bison ran a 52.34 in the 4x100 where they competed against four teams from NCAA Division II.
Junior
Mary Tracey (Clarksburg, W.Va./Liberty) also represented the Bison in the 1500-meter run where she completed the event with a time of 6:25.21.
Freshmen
Ariana Augustine (Claysville, Pa./McGuffey) and
MyJanniea Baptist (Los Angeles, Calif./Lawndale) were the only two throwers for Bethany this weekend but had solid days in the shot put and discus.
Augustine led the way in the shot put with a distance of 9.32 meters to place 16th while
Baptist followed with an 8.32 mark. In the discus,
Baptist led the way at 18th with a 29.73-meter throw while
Augustine notched a 26.87.
Augustine then also threw the hammer where she finished 18th thanks to a toss of 31.55 meters.
The Bison are back in action Friday, April 17 as they travel to Westerville, Ohio to compete at the Otterbein Twilight Meet hosted by Otterbein (Ohio) University at Memorial Stadium.
