GENEVA, Ohio - The Bethany College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the SPIRE College Indoor Games at the SPIRE Indoor Track and Field Complex.
Bethany was back in action at the SPIRE Indoor Games in Northeast Ohio where the No. 25 nationally ranked men's team was led by junior
Mykel Davis (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park) as he won the high jump with a mark of 2.00 meters for the Green and White's only gold of the day.
In the 400-meter dash, freshman
Juan Colon (Lancaster, Pa./McCaskey) finished fifth with a time of 49.82 seconds, while in the 200-meter dash, freshman
Jason Ellman (Erie, Pa./Merychurst Prep) also finished fifth clocking a 22.13.
Ellman also led the bison in the 60 m dash prelims with a time of 7.1.
Junior
Dave Rene (Boynton Beach, Fla./Lakewood) placed 16th in the long jump with a leap of 6.08 meters followed by junior
Willie Holden (Exmore, Va./Broadwater Academy) with a mark of 5.81 m.
Holden also jumped the triple jump with a distance of 11.95 meters while freshman
Tyler Fett (Oxford, Pa./New Oxford) also competed in the triple jump to make his collegiate debut.
The Bison throwers were led by senior
Zaire Tullis (Hartford, Conn./Capital Prep Magnet School), as he finished 17th overall in the shotput with a distance of 12.37 meters, senior
Koda Moore (Proctor, W.Va./John Marshall) with a throw of 11.88 meters, and junior
Jalen Britton (Fort Lee, Va./Prince George) with a 11.75-meter throw. Moore then led Bethany in the weight throw at 11th place and a mark of 13.30 meters while Britton finished 14th with a distance of 12.77 meters.
For the women's team, senior
Makenna Philson (Greenville, Pa.) led the way with an eighth-place finish and a 12.7-meter throw in the weight throw and a 10.33-meter shot in the shotput to finish eleventh overall. Sophomore
Marissa French (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) finished close behind in the shotput with a 10.29 and threw a 10.82 in the weight throw. Freshman
Ariana Augustine (Claysville, Pa./McGuffey) tossed a 10.44 and a 9.32 in the weight throw and shotput, respectively, while senior
Amelia Ferguson (Bakersfield, Calif./Highland) recorded a distance of 10.70 meters in the weight throw.
Junior
Mary Tracey (Clarksburg, W.Va./Liberty) competed in the mile run as she finished with a time of 7:31.29. Sophomore
Azlyn Cates (Upper Marlboro, Md./Frederick Douglass) rounded out the Bison competitors with a 30.93 time in the 200-meter dash while also running in the 60-meter dash prelims.
The Bison are back in action on Friday, February 20 as they travel to University Park, Pennsylvania to compete at the Penn State Tune-Up hosted by Penn State University at the Multi-Sport Facility & Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track.
