Men's Track and Field

Track & Field's McClinton and Ellman Named PAC Athletes of the Week

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Bethany College men's track and field junior Caliyph McClinton (Pittsburgh, Pa./Neighborhood Academy) has been named the Presidents' Athletic Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week and freshman Jason Ellman (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) has been named the PAC Men's Track Newcomer of the Week.

McClinton makes it seven weekly accolades in his career after representing the Bison at the Penn State Tune-Up this past weekend. Going up against a stacked field including Division I competition, he won the 60-meter dash with a new program- and personal-best time of 6.71 seconds after breaking his own program record earlier this season. McClinton now ranks fourth in the nation in the 60 as he gears up for the PAC Championships and eyes a shot at an NCAA title. At the Tune-Up, he also finished second in the 200-meter dash with a 21.76 mark and currently sits at 11th in the country with a time of 21.42 which he set earlier this season.

In his indoor career, McClinton has finished second and third in the 60-meter dash at the past two PAC Indoor Championships, placed third in the 200-meter dash last season, and led the Bison 4x400-meter relay to a second-place finish in 2024-25. He also took home the gold in the 200-meter dash at the 2025 PAC Outdoor Championships on his way to an NCAA Division III Track and Field Outdoor Championship appearance. McClinton earned his previous six weekly honors on March 27 and April 23 of 2024, and February 18, April 2, April 15, and December 9 of 2025.

Ellman earns his first career weekly honor after also having a big day at the Penn State Tune-Up. In the 200, he ran a personal best 22.03 to finish fifth overall as the Bison dominated the event. Ellman also clocked an impressive 6.99 in the 60, but just missed the qualifying cutoff after finishing 11th.

In his first collegiate season, Ellman has competed in five meets and has three top-five performances on the year across three separate events. He opened the season with a personal-best time of 6.91 in the 60 at the Tiger Collegiate Open, which ranked 12th in the country at the time, and jumped a 6.73 in the long jump at the YSU Collegiate Invitational.

The Bison are back in action on Thursday, February 26 as they travel to Youngstown, Ohio to compete at the Presidents' Athletic Conference Indoor Championships at 10:30 a.m. at the Watson and Tressel Training Site.
