ELLWOOD, Pa. - The Bethany College men's and women's golf teams competed in the 2026 Geneva Spring Opener hosted by Geneva (Pa.) College at Connoquenessing Country Club.
Both the men's and women's team traveled to Geneva for a head-to-head-to-head matchup against the Golden Tornadoes and Waynesburg (Pa.) University. The women's team competed individually as the GT women took first with a four-player score of 450 (+162). Meanwhile, the men's team opened its spring season by fielding two of the Opener's five teams: the Bethany A team won the Opener with a round of 312 (+24) and the Bethany B team shot a 347 (+59) to finish fourth.
Leading the Lady Bison were Academic All-PAC sophomore
Natalie DuShole (Waterford, Pa./Fort LeBouf) and freshman
Shelby Cascioli (Lapeer, Mich.) who placed third and fourth among the 10 player standings, respectively.
DuShole carded a 103 (+31) while
Cascioli shot a 106 (+33) as the duo's average score trumped that of both of the other competing teams.
On the men's side, the Bison took home the top three individual spots with junior
Payton Hildebrand (Wellsburg, W.Va./Wheeling Central Catholic) shooting a 73 (+1), All-PAC junior
Jude Smith (Weirton, W.Va./Weir) shooting a 75 (+3), and freshman
Jacob Bursey (Winchester, Va./James Woods) shooting a 77 (+5) to represent Team A.
The Bethany A team also consisted of freshman
Ian Longo (Winchester, Va./James Woods) and sophomore
Nash Hays (Heath, Ohio) who each fired an 87 (+15) to tie for 13th out of 24.
Leading the way for Bethany B was sophomore
Lincoln Pablo (Tulalip, Wash./Heritage) who placed eighth overall and had the Bison's fourth-best score of the day with a score of 82 (+10).
Freshman
Brayden Roberts (Franklin, Ky./Franklin-Simpson) finished with a round of 84 (+12) while junior
Samuel Phillips (Charleston, W.Va./Herbert Hoover) carded an 88 (+16) as four Bison took places 12 through 15.
Graduate
Troy Hixson (Grove City, Ohio/Bishop Ready) and sophomore
Caleb Mouton (Denham Springs, La./Walker) rounded out the Bison competitors after shooting a 93 (+21) and a 99 (+27), respectively.
The Bison men's team is back in action on Monday, April 6 as they travel to Greenville, Pennsylvania to compete at the Thiel Invitational at 12:30 p.m. at Avalon at Buhl Park Country Club. The Bison women's team is back in action on Thursday, April 9 as they host the Bethany Spring Invitational at 11 a.m. at Oglebay Park.
